. Henry William Burgess (c.1792-1839) A collection of tree sketches and other studies, circa 1820s H. W Burgess was appointed landscape painter to King William IV of England in 1826, and in 1827 over 50 sepia lithographs after Burgess' drawings were published in "Eidodendron", the first edition of a work of tree portraiture, including portraits of magnificent trees in the grounds of estates such as Windsor, Knowle, and Woburn Park. Drawings and watercolours by Burgess are held in galleries including the Royal Collection, the V&A and the Met.
